I took the train from Lucerne to Schwyz, followed by a short bus ride to the Stoosbahnen. To get to the car-free alpine village of Stoos, you take the funicular railway (dubbed the steepest in the world at a 110 degree max incline) which was really neat.

From here you can begin the Gratwanderweg Stoos (Stoos Ridge Hike)! The cool thing about this one is that you can start on either the south or north side of the “loop”. On either side, you can opt to hike up, or take the ski lift, and the same for coming back down. Once you’re at the top, you’re surrounded with continuous 360 panoramic views while you walk along the ridge.
I chose to only hike the ridge portion (~2 hours) and took the ski lift both up on the south side (Klingenstock) and down on the north side (Fronalpstock). There’s plenty of additional hiking you can get in if you opt out of the ski lifts!
